There’s nothing more frustrating than arriving at a holiday home only to find the basics—like salt, pepper, toilet roll, or teabags—missing. The uncertainty of not knowing what will be provided can add unnecessary stress to your trip.

At Glenisla Cottage, we’ve thought about the little things to help you feel at home from the moment you arrive. After a long journey, we want you to unwind, relax, and not worry about the essentials.

Below, we’ve outlined exactly what’s included and what isn’t, so you can plan ahead with confidence.

Many of our guests like to schedule an online grocery delivery to coincide with their arrival. Knowing what’s already available can make it easier to plan your order and ensure your stay starts smoothly.

We supply the basics you will need for your stay, such as toilet rolls, and liquid soap in the bathroom. In the kitchen you will find most basic ingredients, such as salt and pepper, cooking oil, tea bags, as well as most utensils, pots and pans that you might need during your stay.

We don’t provide items with a short shelf life such as butter and milk.

The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven and a combination microwave oven & grill. There is also a six ring electric hob fitted with an overhead extractor hood.

In the kitchen you will also find a kettle and toaster. For the coffee enthusiasts we have a Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machine. A variety of pods will be available in the basket in the kitchen. The pods are usually used in pairs, with a coffee pod and a milk/creamer pod provided. We also have a more traditional coffee machine for use with ground coffee. There is also a Dualit milk frother if you prefer. 

The kitchen also has an upright fridge/freezer.

We have off-road parking for 1 estate or 2 small vehicles, plus there is parking front of the house if needed. We don’t provide dedicated rapid car charging facilities at Glenisla, however we do have external 13 amp sockets, which can be used to trickle charge a vehicle if required. 

The house is served by full-fibre broadband direct to the house. Speeds of at least 70Mb/s are available which can easily provide for TV streaming, gaming and video conferencing, should you wish to work during your stay. Our TV streaming service is provided by a Roku stick. All free to air accounts are already logged in, however you can log into your own paid for services if you wish. Although, please remember to log out of these before you leave. 

The house is fitted with gas fired central heating, which is programmed via Nest, to come on and go off throughout the day. 

If you wish to alter the temperature simply move the dial in the hallway. The house also has underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom for your added comfort.

The kitchen system shouldn’t need adjusting, but the bathroom system can be switched on/off by tapping the pad on the wall outside the bathroom.

The living room features a modern, eco-friendly lean-burn log burner, designed to create a cosy and inviting atmosphere. For your convenience, the fire will be set before your arrival, ensuring a warm welcome.

To light the fire yourself, we recommend the following steps:

1. Start with some rolled-up newspaper, a couple of firelighters, and a few sticks of kindling.
2. Place larger logs on top.
3. Pull out the bottom vents to draw in air, helping the fire to establish quickly.
4. Once the fire is burning steadily, close the vents slightly to prevent it from burning too fast.

The log burner is equipped with a heat-operated fan on top, which efficiently distributes warmth throughout the room, enhancing your comfort.

Glenisla has both an integrated dishwasher and washer/dryer. We supply a few wash tabs and dishwasher tabs, which should be sufficient for your stay.

The instructions for both appliances can be found within the folder in the coffee table. There is also an airer in the under stairs cupboard, along with an iron and ironing board.

We provide bath and hand towels for up to four guests, conveniently placed in each bedroom for your use. Every bed is equipped with extra-comfy mattresses and luxurious mattress toppers to ensure a restful night’s sleep. To cater to different preferences, we’ve included both firm and soft pillows for each bed. For an added touch of warmth and comfort, blankets are also supplied in every bedroom, perfect for creating a cosy retreat.

The house is fitted with wired-in combined smoke / carbon monoxide detectors in the kitchen and landing. The kitchen also has a fire extinguisher, fire blanket, and first aid kit should you need it. We also provide a list of emergency contacts and phone numbers in the folder in the coffee table.
